Grand Island Soccer Club
Attention Referees!
Looking to become a referee for the Grand Island Soccer Club? See the NSSA site for more details. Information about certification (including scheduled training) can also be found at the NSSA site as well.
How do I become a referee? By taking a referee course over a weekend and passing the test with at least a score of 75%.
When is the course given? Usually in the Fall.
How old do I have to be? Anybody who will turn 13 sometime during 2003 is old enough. We encourage people of all ages to become certified.
How much does it cost? The cost is $30 only if you pass the test. TheGrand Island Soccer Club will pay that for the first year.
Do I have to take the course every year? Every year you take a one day refresher where you are brought up to date on any rule changes and you take the test again. This keeps you certified by the United States Soccer Federation.
What does it pay to referee? It varies by age group. We pay $12 for a U-8 game, $17 for a U-10 center, $10 for a U-10 line, $20 for a U-12 center, $13 for a U-12 line, etc.
Can I referee without taking the course? No.
When is the next course? Dates and locations can be found at the NSSA Site.
